Jayde Bond (WAAPA - BA DANCE) originally opened the Electric DNA doors to kids dance classes in February of 2012 under the name Lunchbox Kids. That name was initially derived from the rockabilly kids band Electric Lunchbox she created with her husband and collaborator Steve Shanahan, but as the classes grew in popularity she decided to give the school its own identity.
Electric DNA has opened its doors to many Inner-West parents looking for relaxed, professional, and good quality dance classes for their kids (with great music).
All of the teachers at Electric DNA have qualifications from various institutions such as the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Brent Street, AMPA, Village Nation, Sydney Dance Company (PPY), The Royal Academy of Dance (London), and The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), and all strive to teach the kids the highest level of Dance, Movement, Acrobatic, Drama and Music education.
At Electric DNA, our aim is to get kids to think and move skilfully, creatively and without pressure. We are passionate about keeping them active and having fun with great music, but equally as passionate about seeing them meet new friends, boosting their self-esteem, empowering and inspiring them. All of our classes are done in a supportive, inclusive, and non-threatening environment, with the emphasis on fun, exploration, and learning and perfecting new skills. We also offer an accelerated program for those children wanting to participate in ballet exams, dance competitions, and extra performances throughout the year.
